Why Google shows only 10 search results per page?

They used to display '30' before!

Any logic behind this? Let's find out 👇🏼

🛠️ Google's product team "surveyed" users to find out the apt number of search results they want to see.

💡 Users said 30 results

🚀 Listening to the users, they implemented it and...

This resulted in a 40% drop in Google searches! 🤯🤯🤯

Why??

  • One thing Google didn't realize, but was extremely important to the users - "Loading Speed" which decreased by 1/3rd due to the higher number of search results.
  • Second thing was fundamental, Hick's Law - lesser the number of options faster is the decision making.

This discovery had a huge impact on Google's future. They reduced it to 10 searches and we 💗 it till date.

🏁 Takeaway: There is a huge gap between what users say and how they react.
